When your characters crack you up

Revising Book 1, and added the following to the party scene at Agrostis:

Grant bowed to her and broke off to speak with two of the estate craftspeople who shared his interest in the estate’s plumbing, confirming Tatiana’s suspicion that he was as much fun at a party as he was the rest of the time.

Probably as gauche as a comedian who laughs at his own jokes, but it gave me a chuckle nonetheless.
